Glen Gordon Manor at the Castleton Festival

foodChef Dayn Smith and Nancy Moon Smith moved to Virginia in 2006, and have been close friends with Lorin and Dietlinde Maazel ever since. As patrons of the arts and lovers of classical music and opera, they provided accommodations for singers and musicians during the first two years of the Castleton Festival. Over the past five years Glen Gordon Manor has played an increasingly significant role in supporting this series of operas and concerts. In 2014, we are excited to be partnering with the Festival to bring fine dining to Castleton, complementing the musical experience with culinary delight. Chef Dayn Smith is offering multi-course dinners in the elegant settings of the Great Room and Terraces of Castleton Farm’s Theatre House prior to each dazzling performance.

The Opening Gala:
Saturday July 28
Immediately before the much anticipated premier of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.” Asian flavors inspire and infuse Chef Smith’s menu, in a sophisticated yet subtle interplay of epicurean brilliance. This evening sold out quickly, however there are still several opportunities to enjoy the cuisine of Glen Gordon Manor at the Castleton Festival.

Pre-opera dinners:
July 5 (sold out), July 11, July 12 (sold out), July 18, and July 19.
Each of the three elegantly crafted courses are paired with wines selected by Chef Dayn Smith. The signature menus feature five-star cuisine that is so luxurious, you will be tempted to reserve a table every night.

Have you ever wanted to “Think and Cook Like a Chef”?

Join Chef Smith when he brings his unique and entertaining cooking classes to the Castleton Festival.  He will take center stage for a few hours, and guide students through the fundamentals of his cooking style, offering an overview of his techniques for turning the basic notes of flavor into an extraordinary aria on the palate. Participants may enjoy a simple demonstration, with explanations, or experience a full hands-on lesson, complete with a glass (or two) of wine. The class culminates with a tasting of the food prepared by the students. Learn how to be a superstar in your own kitchen–for beginners through the serious hobby chef.
